Video Preview Problem
Firstly, I'd just like to say how happy I am that this feature is being implemented.
When in the game info screen the video will only play for a moment before pausing. I'm guessing this has something to do with how the covers and screenshots would normally interchange as it seems to occur at the same speed that they would normally switch.
Also changing the image display time in the options doesn't seem to make any discernable difference to how long the images stay on screen.

Been having some trouble with that. What's the physical size of your screen (width & height or diagonal), which Android version do you have, and does it happen it both portrait and landscape orientations?
My device is running 2560x1440 resolution 16.9 ratio. The problem occurs in both portrait and landscape orientation, Android version 9. The videos play fine using the preview pane in the game select screen but stall on the game info screen.
I mean the physical dimensions in in or cm. One of the reasons YouTube will refuse to play is if the window is physically too small.
Ahh, ok. My screen is 5.7 inches.
The video will start to play but pauses itself after a second or so. I can manually press on the play button to get it to restart but within a few seconds will pause itself again. I can watch the whole video if I'm persistent and keep pressing play each time.
More a suggestion than a bug update but there is the YouTube channel Arcade Forever that has an archive of really great video snaps for almost all the systems that DIG supports. A lot of the videos I've seen currently linked seem to show the game winding up with all of the titles and boot screens and can sometimes take a good amount of time before you actually see any gameplay. I think the videos on that channel are more suitable for a preview video. https://www.youtube.com/c/ArcadeForeverMF
Thanks! I just finished putting them all in.
Does this mean I can delete all of my animated gifs?
Are you using a theme with a foreground image by any chance? So far that's the only situation where I can repeat this. There might not be anything I can do about that. The official YouTube API doesn't permit other views to overlay it, even if they're transparent apparently.
Maybe. See if you like it first...
I missed this development. How do I use this feature?
That is exactly what's causing it. I disabled the foreground layer and it started playing fine again. This means anybody using a good amount of the themes shared here (including most of mine) is gonna end up with the same issue. With the problem being the YouTube API, would it be possible to have the foreground image actually display under the video layer but still over the background. This would hopefully allow the video to play without issue but still allow for the all the themes using foreground images in the game selection to not have submit updated versions with that layer removed from the .zip.
When you are in the game select screen you can hit the 3 options dots and there is a new option to enable a preview pane. When you are in the game info screen, hit the three dots and touch configure to enable play videos from there. It's still preliminary at the moment and not all games are playing videos yet but the dev said earlier in this thread that he's added the YouTube video snap archive that I suggested which should increase the number of games supported by a good amount hopefully in the next update.
Thanks!
So I can enable the preview pane, but once I go into the the options on the game info screen and touch configure, there are options for box cover, screenshot, file path, ratings, genres, game info, published by, developed by, released, comments, and collections, but nothing about enabling the playing of videos.
Hmmm, I'm setup as a beta tester. This might currently only be something that is available to beta testers. Mine looks like this.
The Dev is working on this feature so if it's not there I'd advise patience for right now.
Yep, I don't have those options. No big deal. I can wait until it's finalized.
Are you able to do this since the latest update?
I can activate the preview pane (which sometimes plays my gif previews from the screenshots folder, not every time though) but no play video tic boxes.
Hang in there, I've been playing around with the latest build and I think you're probably gonna be wanting to dump those GIFs. The video preview system seems to working great now for most of the systems I've tried.
As an aside, I have been using this site for all the video snaps I've been converting to GIFs...

Just downloaded the newest update and am very glad to see that videos have been added. However, In my case I am using a galaxy note 10 plus (6.2 screen) and the video preview screen is little off. If you look at the attached picture, the preview pane is too far to the right covering part of the game description text. If this can be moved a little to the left and up that would be awesome.
BTW, I have tested this with and without a theme.
This is how it looks on vertical. It also is a bit off as well.
Thanks
Is the latest version any better or different? If it's different but not better please post more pics. Thanks.
What is the latest version? I have not seen anything new come through since 1.39.
That should be it - I didn't change the version number or info.
No everything looks the same.
Thank for working on this.
Actually, there is a change. On the Horizontal view, the video is no longer covering the play button. it's still covering the game text though.
There is no change on the vertical view.
Hi guys , I'm struggling to get it back working on with videos of after trying some themes on shield, any advice.
Phone and tablet fine
