I tried and it seems possible, but there is no way to start a game it seems.
To create this entry. Clone something like the Amstrad GX4000, rename it to Phillips G7000 (or G7400) and set it up like normal using retroarch (mame) as emu.
Once you start a game, mame will boot and ask "select game" and I'm stuck there

Have you tried using the system Odyssey²? According to Wikipedia it's what the G7000 was known as in North America.
