Quitting Retroarch Hotkey help

I've mapped a menu and exit hot keys in Retroarch. Everytime I exit it takes me out of Dig completely which is really annoying. I read somewhere that Dig uses it own config file rather than the retroarch config file but that doesn't ring true. Everything I change in Retroarch is mirrored within Dig.

I've tried selecting confirm quit in Dig but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Help and assistance would be greatly appreciated.
