Alternate covers for clone systems?

Hello,

I have a clone for the SNES system for MSU-1 hacks. There's fanmade covers for all these hacks.

I want to use the same filenames between the standard SNES games and the MSU-1 romhacks so that they can share the save files without issue. However, if they have the same filename, as they are both counted as "SNES" games, I can only have one cover art, either the actual SNES cover or the MSU-1 fan covers.

I've renamed the MSU-1 files so that I can enjoy both cover types, but this makes it that the saves are not cross-compatible. Any way we can get an allowance for alternate covers, even if not in the near future?
