Automatic switching of backgrounds

Can anyone tell me if dig does the automatic switching of backgrounds when placing the system icons in a list or vertically? My cell phone is only doing the automatic change in linear, wheel, cover flow or carousel.

I'm pretty sure it switches in vertical if you use a gamepad to flip between systems but it definitely doesn't switch if you're using a touch screen.
